Maybe a stupid question but ill ask

The rim on the brass is bigger in diameter then the front so I assume it would cause jamming issues in the mag if it was straight.

I too would rather have straight mags

Yea its all because of the rim. Just lay out 25 rounds on a table with the rim and the nose touching and you will see why.

not to highjack the post but an interesting question would be why are mags like the ones for the AK a bannana clip they should technicaly be able to be straight or am I wrong? I never have played with an AK. :(

The 7.62 x 39 has a fairly pronounced taper.

Even relatively straight cases have a taper from the extractor groove to the edge of the shoulder. While the origional AR-15 mags are straight, once they went from 20 to 30 rounds, the bottom of the mag became curved.

Yea i wasnt thinking about them being taperd. I guess thats just another reason why I need to play with some bigger calibers. But then again I have only been playing with firearms since May.

Well, the only option I know that is straight, and it is this one.
