Hello you all!
It's been a long time since i posted ( i have oldies to care for and it takes me much of my spare time) .
Now, i have been enjoying reloading this winter and bought a wet/stainless media tumbler from Frankford Arsenal. The thing works great and all my brass is clean right down to the primer pockets. Even range brass gets the treatment before inspection, it helps a lot with culling.
Lately, i have been thinking about a simple way to decap all that brass quickly before cleaning without inducing tendinitis... Actually, there is no manufactured solution to this problem.
The only possibility i see could be a modified progressive press with a case feeder and, in that avenue, the old and clunky three hole Lee pro-1000 could be of some use:
-it accepts a regular decapping die and there's enough place remaining for an optional rapid trimmer i'm building.
-its automatic case feeder can accomodate all the brass i want to decap.
-height of the case feeder can be tuned fast with lengths of metal tubing cut to the proper caliber dimensions and slipped over the supporting bolt.
-the case sliders can be exchanged quite fast.
-shellplates are quick to exchange and don't cost much.
-the case collator does its job quite well and the whole thing is cheap enough.
Now, is there among you someone who has the broken remains of a Lee pro-1000 and could accept to donate its parts "for science"?
PM me please!
