hey

i'm wondering if anyone has used the new mcgowan barrels? i googled them and found some info but i'm wondering if anybody else has any experience with them. the prefit/chambered locknut ones the mysticplayer has advertised are very interesting to me.

I used a McGowan when I had my .375 Ruger built by Bill Leeper. Bill commented that he didn't see a lot of difference(for a hunting barrel) between Douglas, Shilen or McGowan. He had a .375 McGowan heavy sporter blank in his shop so I decided to go with it so I wouldn't have to wait for shipping.

As part of the built, Bill cut/crowned the barrel to 21" then re-profiled it to a .70" muzzle diameter so the barrel wouldn't look too clubby.

So far I'm very happy with my choice. The rifle is quite accurate and fouling(even after 20-30 rounds) is minimal.
