Just looking for a little info. What would be the demand for A-5's in the gunnutz realm. Are there alot of tactical shooters in Canada as compared to the US that are willing to pay for a top notch but pricey item? Just trying to get some feedback to see what tactical and precision shooters in Canada are looking for in stocks and gear. I'm not really interested in starting a debate on supporting Canadian vs US industry because there are a great many products being sold by business fellas on here that are brought in from the US. Just looking for a little feedback on what you guys would like to see and support. Thanks for any responses. I'm asking here because I believe that this nutz is the premier site for Canada.

well as far as i can tell myself included that the A-5's would be well worth bringing here. unfortuantly they are beynd my current budget but in the near future i would like to get one

Thanks for the responses so far. Are there any products and equipment that you fellas think there is a need for that is hard to come by? How about prices? Is it just me or does everything Canadian cost piles more than the US? It seems like there is stuff to be had up here but the prices kind of bugs me a little bit.

I would like to see a Dealer that can stock a few items,so whn I get the urge to buy I don't have to wait,I like the A4 too

I have heard that the Bell and Carlson Tactical stocks are very solid.....

Jamie,

I have seen and shot a few rifles with those stocks, they are a very good stock for the $$$ and very under rated up here, but are very popular in the US. I have the Duramaxx on my last Savage, it was a great stock.

I thought you already had some A5s stockpiled?

I cannot see how you could stock these stocks and make any money. I think anyone that is going to spend the cash on an A5 is going to want it there way and be able to specify color, fill weight, flush cup and swivel numbers and location, etc. Unless you get a couple of all the possibilities people are still going to have to wait for a stock from McMillan anyway. Unless you could offer a discount of some sort so that people would be inclined to order the options they want from McMillan through you.

Let me know what happens as I am in the market for a new stock for a heavy bench/tactical style stock.

McMillan A5's are pricey, but they're certainly solid. I have one on my PGW Coyoti, and I understand now what all the fuss is about. I simply can't imagine a more rigid and durable stock, unless one were to machine a stock out of a billet of aluminum or steel.

Now, if I could just find a McMillan Hunter for a LA DM Rem 700 to put on my '06 hunting rifle...

Troy, I totally understand what you are saying. It is a very hard market to judge when there is such a long wait and all the options that can be very customer specific. I think it's a matter of, is the stock almost what I want and colour is pretty neutral and alot of people are willing to take what's close to what they want instead of wait 6 months. This is not about making alot of money, as sad as it sounds, for me it was about having the option of now instead of waiting. It's about getting tactical supplies without ordering them. Having a one stop shop appeals to me and I'm thinking that there are others that feel the same. I don't stockpile Troy, I just have some in stock at all times for people that may be like me. My business is doing well in Canada and the US. I was just looking for a little input on what people would like to see specifically in Canada as far as other products and services. The A-5's are just another product in a store. Thanks for all the input so far guys.

1. I hope I did not sound like a prick in my last post as that was certainly not my intention.

2. Stockpiling was supposed to be an absurd exaggertion because you must have ordered several/numerous stocks beforehand to be able to offer them now when there is at least a 25 week waiting period from McMillan. I realize what you are trying to do and commend you for it. If you are making some money at it even better.

3. I would also like to say that there are other good stocks out there besides McMillan. Ian Robertson is a stand up guy and has always answered my emails and given his professional input in a timely manner; something that McMillan has not been able to do in the last several months. In the past it was not uncommon to have emails answered directly by Kelly and #### and lately you cannot get anyone via email.

If John (wallbanger) and Ian (Robertson Composites) have nothing that tickle your fancy you could always check out Thomas Manners Stocks. Their new MCS-T1 stock looks neat and is priced competitively with a McMillan with about a six week wait. It is like an A3 front with an A5 back with some slight differences.

What ever you decide to bring in we all benefit, thanks.

Thanks for the kind words Troy. Just a side note. I don't know everyone's experiences but when I email mcmillan I get an answer within a day on most issues. Thanks everyone. I do have A-5 stocks in stock here in Ontario and will look at any suggestions as to other products you would like to see me have in stock without waiting for me to order.

Wall Banger I have to agree with Troy G. I own and shoot a Mcmillan A5 and love it, but it is not a stock you just "Stock" in a store. It is a piece of precision equipment as important as the barrel, action, trigger and other parts and alot of thought is put into it's setup, as well as an individuals preferences. My Mcmillan was built specific to the action I was using and my preferences. If your going to spend the money on the stock, and a custom rifle your going to want a stock built to your expectations and fit to you as well as cosmetic finish. Setteling on whats available is just not an option in my mind when dealing with that quality and a waite for what you want is not a inconvience when chasing quality.

Ian Robertson builds beautiful and functional stocks and you have to waite for those also. If you want a drop in stock go with a choate, or others.

Then again I may be totally wrong.

Just my opinion

Canuck I agree. My A-5's are only drop ins if you have a Rem. 700 action with heavy varmint contour and bdl bottom. I'm assuming you had a custom action that you specified they mill out specifically for that. The only custom on Mcmillans are to specify what options you want. I'm not saying that my stocks are just stocks that I stock in a store. These are as precision as yours are, just for Remmy's. Thanks for your comments.

Your weekend special on the A5 was tempting but I wasn't sure about using one for my current rifle or a future build.

John, I may have jumped the gun on this one so to say. I visited your website and had a look at what you are doing. Good Job and all the best. Yes my rifle is a custom build and I need to keep reminding myself that precision shooting doesnt just apply to custom rigs. But to get the most out of the Mcmillan stocks it takes a little more work than just bolting in a rifle. Im not trying to be arrogant, I have seen people spend money on a stock thinking the stock alone will give them a sub MOA rifle. Lack of research on thier part i guess but it does happen. Again all the best.

Here's a pic of mine Dakota 76 action .300WM....gotta get some new pics of it this one is old now, but its still a good one. :)

Just to update folks, #### Davis had quadruple bypass surgery on Friday and will be out of the office for a while. We have several A5s on back order and delivery has been slipping.

Ian Robertson must be out of town since he hasn't been able to call me for the past week. I think most stock makers are swamped.....time will tell.

Joe
