What is the heaviest contour barrel that will fit into an A5 without removing any material? I'm guessing possibly a shillen #7?

All Barrel manufacturers will contour your barrel to suit your specs, usually for no extra charge. If you PM me I can give you some further info that may help.

I have a Douglas #8 Contour in my A3 (same forend as an A5 iirc).

I have 3 A-5's enroute.

2 of which are to accomodate heavy bench barrels (straight for 5" and then tapering to 0.950").
