Dos anyone have any experience with a McMillan A5 stock on a Remington 700 SS 5-R or on a Steyr SSG 69 P?
I like the idea of an adjustable cheek piece and length of pull on a stock.
I have a Steyr SSG 69 P 308 rifle and it has spacers in the butt and I like it.
I am vertically challenged about 5' 5" and I need a short stock to shoot comfortably.
I am just thinking about the possibility of upgrading one or both of my rifles in the fall or winter, and am looking for a source in Canada.
I also wonder if anyone ever replaced the synthetic mags in a Steyr SSG 69 with metal ones? I am not a fan of synthetic mags and would like to have sturdy metal mags in my guns. I have synthetic mags for my AR and some are prone to breaking like the Canadian H101, H102, & H103 models.
I have a collection of C7 and AR mags but the C7 synthetics are damaged but look good with a display.

McMillian used to ship directly to Canada, filling out all the paperwork for you. Far as I know they still do so getting an A5 shouldn't be an issue. The A5 is nice, but I've only got to fondle one once sadly. Very solid, and very comfortable.

If you can afford it, I'd say go for it. McMillian has a very solid reputation for well made stocks, just remember there's a pretty good lead time because they're filling out a LOT of orders.

Contact wallbanger for McM stocks . He monitors on this site and is great to deal with if you don't want to do the import yourself.
Have a look at Robertson Composites too. Ian also makes a nice stock. Out of Ontario too.

I've never handled a McM but have heard they are outstanding.

However, I recently picked up a Bell & Carlson A5 Medalist of the EE and couldn't be happier with it.

Might be something to check into if you're shopping around.

I have a McMillan A5 on a remington 700 clone. Works well. Corlanes sporting goods in Dawson creek handles them. 6 month time frame to get from McMillan.
