Mcmillan Hunter's edge. Your thoughts?

Hi everyone, I'm looking at one of these stocks.

Does anyone have experience with one? How does it fit you? How does it feel in recoil?

I have four Hunters Edge pattern, have shot them on a few others. One is a Model 70 in 338-06 and recoil isn't bad at all. #3 contour on a couple of mine (280 ackley and another 338-06)
 
Thanks... I had a chance to handle it yesterday. Overall I like the fit but I think the forend might be a bit too narrow and too short for a long action. I understand that a Sako Classic can also be had, do you have any experience with that one?

The gun is intended to be reasonably light and handy with no excess bulk, but I worry whether that tiny forend would affect shootability.

I haven't used a Sako Classic, but have a Sako Compact on my Tikka 6.5 PRC. On my Model 70s I've used the Hunter's Edge, Supergrade, and Game Scout
 
Have used a Sako Hunter pattern on a M70 and several M700 long actions, fits quite well and mitigates recoil well.

I believe the Winchester Hunter is patterned after the original Sako Hunter stock, with a slightly thicker forend.
 
Anything made by Mcmillan is a quality product. There advertised weights are accurate and their edge fill is awesome. Recoil is a product of the cartridge not the stock, If you want a quality stock that is Extremely stiff, you would not be dissapointed in Mcmillan or Manners for that matter as an alternative. The Mcmillan is a good step up from Bell and Carlson
 
My favourite stock that I have used on remington and tikkas. It has the classic riflemans lines. I prefer the narrow grip and front end on it. I had it next to a buddies Christensen arms Ridgeline this weekend, and the CA stock has exactly the same lines and thickness at the forearm, with a sendero or larger profile barrel channel in it.

Even though you can't tell in the pic, my stock has checkering, as well as speckle paint which I dipped over, all of which improve the grip/handling

I would love to handle a wildcat stock and compare to my McMillan. I'm at about 23 ounces with my edge, if I could shed 5-6 with an edge, I would, but I gotta know I'm going to like it as much as the edge.

Anyone around the Windsor/Essex area has a wildcat, hit me up. Love to handle one.
 
I’ve also had an Edge crack from behind the recoil lug to the front action screw/pillar. Was pretty surprised by that. Mcmillan replaced the stock without hesitation.
 
I've had an edge on an FN Mauser '98 action, chambered in 6.5 Swede for quite a few years. Great stock with nice feel in my hands. Zero issues and rock solid. I do find the stock a bit noisy when hunting compared to wood but I'm a pretty traditional guy when it comes to hunting rifles and I do like the look and feel of a quality wood stock.
