Hey Guys,
Picked up a Rem 700 Mtn LSS and have stripped the laminate stock off and plan on dropping it in a new synthetic. I've owned a Bansner before and was very impressed by it, and have heard great things about McMillan as well. Just curious which you would choose and why. Also, any suggestions on suppliers? I know I can order from Rick at the campfire for a McMillan, just curious on the Bansner or any other good places for stock orders....

Well, I think you could flip a coin.

Gatehouse has a Basner on his custom 300 mag, and its a solid unit (if you can look past the scars of abuse!)

McMillans also are high quality, just dont ask Chuck Nelson ;)

Im sure each company will spew out a lemon once and a while (or two or three times in a row). Other good option is WildCat Composites (in Alberta), and a factory take-off Titanium stock (Bell & Carlson - very good as well).

### International has Basners and maybe McMillans too, and Rick @ ATR could probably get mcmillans for ya. and of course Rick Bin on 24 hr, a plus with him is the paint! he does great work.

I didnt realize Wildcat was in Alberta...I've heard a bit about them but not a pile. Might have to look at them as well and have a peak.

Brambles, I have a buyer interested in the stock and said he'd take it after the 15th once he has some $$. If that deal falls through, I'll let ya know.
 
Just did some searches into some older threads and want to take a better look at Wildcat as well. Anyone have contact info for them? The number posted didnt work when dialed.....any info or email would be great.....

Thanks man...that was it. The last number I had was with a different digit in the wrong place.......just had a chat with him. Good guy to talk with. That will only now make the decision even harder.....
 
Stocks

Hi Trev,I have a couple of McMillans,on a 8mm Rem Mag,and a .300 WSM.I ordered them direct from the factory(don't know if you can still do that!)Great stocks!I ordered both with blind magazines,as I prefer them to floorplates.Cheers,Mur.(love that ,284!!!):D
 
I've shot Bansner and played around with a few McMillan stocks, and I currently own 2 Wildcats (Love 'em), and it would be a toss up for me between the Wildcat Composite and the Bansner(for a super lightweight rigid stock).

One of my Wildcats is the Rem 700 Classic pattern on my 35 Whelen (7lbs 1 oz (scoped)), and it is a great stock.

The other is on my Rem 700 7-08AI (6lbs 0 oz scoped)and started life as their Rem M7 Stock, which was inletted for the Rem 700.
It is a very svelte little stock, and I love it. Certainly nice to have a trim little forend and stock on the mtn contour bbl.

The Wildcat is Canadian (Bonus), but last I checked they were getting a little pricey for blanks.... and the Bansner could be had for a fair bit less on this site by one of our members (Bartell mentioned the name).

Fit and feel wise, I prefer the Wildcat of the two though.

HOWEVER.... my #1 favorite all time stock undoubtedly is the Brown Precision Classic.... simply fits me perfectly. Only problem is they are super $$$ and come poorly finished.

Bear in mind there is a fair bit of work to be done if you are fussy like myself... as they come as blanks. You have to do a fair bit of bedding, filling... to get all of the gaps filled perfectly and everything fit like a glove. Certainly not "drop in".

Lots of great info...I have been waiting on a McMillan stock for 3 going on 4 months now (I heard they had a big military order come in). Called Wildcat Comp and he doesn't make em for a Sako 75...so maybe I can get my hands on a Bansner, I have another Sako I would like to get a stock for.:)
 
Just got my first McMillian stock the other day, Remington Mtn Stock with Edge technology. I really like it so far but the final verdict will come when I get it back from Corlane sports after its pillar bedded. I bought it from Rick @ 24hr and his service was top notch and I would go back to him without a doubt.
 
Got a hold of Rick at 24hr and ordered another McMillan for a Sako. Instrument tan with black and white webbing (to be painted by Rick).:D Here is a photo of what it'll look like...its the one next to the black stock (right side). Maybe I'll get by October.
