Mcmillan

So unless things have changed in a year

Not trying to slam you or anything, but to be quite frank as far as DoS goes, things seemingly change weekly as to what new hoops they want us to jump through. I'm quite sure McMillan has an export permit otherwise they couldn't ship to Alberta Tactical Rifle either - however I seriously doubt they'll be willing to fill out the myriad of other paperwork you need to satisfy the pencilnecks on both sides of the border :p

Gotta love the steady fear mongering by some. McMillans biggest customer is the US fed government, then various law enforcement agencies throughout the world. I am sure that they do nothing illegal when it comes to exporting their product to private customers outside of the USA. Curious why they would risk it just to send me a stock?

Isn't there different rules when it comes to them exporting commercially ( ie a "dealer") compared to a one off private sale? From what I understand there is, but it wouldd be good if someone could set the record straight.

No fear mongering here at all, just giving the info as I've seen from my experience.

I suppose from the dealer's perspective that most may not realize is that they have a lot more to lose then just getting their pee-pee slapped by the feds if they don't follow the letter of the law, quite potentially if you screw up bad enough you can lose your licensing (be it import, export, or business license) and there you have it - no more way to make a living.

Anyhow, just trying to give another point of view, if it's not the one people want to hear so they can get gear for a few bucks cheaper then give 'er and roll the dice, just don't be surprised if you get "special attention" going to the states :p

Not trying to slam you either, but you don't know what you are talking about. The only paperwork we as customers need is green one, as in money for gst/pst for the canadian tax man, and of course exchange rate and shipping. If you want a RIFLE, different story, here is Mcmillan's policy http://www.mcmfamily.com/mcmillan-ordering.php But feel free to deal with a middleman if you wish.

So you are saying that Mcmillan may not realize that they could lose their business license because they sell me a stock? Maybe you should phone them and enlighten them with your "experience"
