I have reciently picked up a custom Remington 700 in a McMillian A2 stock and the comb is a little short for my likeing. I would like to hear what some of you shooters have done or seen to correct a simular situation. What are the advantages/disadvantages to modifying the stock by adding an adjustable cheek piece or some sort of lace up or strap on cheek piece. Thanks, Guy JR.

Get one that is adjustable and removable, as opposed to a "glue on." The fixed ones cause grief when you try and clean the rifle.

We can install the factory McMillan saddle type cheekrest into your A2, you will not be able to tell that it was not done by McMillan when finished.
The lace on crap is just that. The key to precision shooting is not having your kit change, strap on or lace on stuff can and does move, a solid cheek rest does not move or change shape at all.

I recently purchased a rifle from these guys with a cheek piece installed. Works excellently, keeps the cheek weld perfect for whoever is shooting the rifle. They are alot tougher in real life then the pictures make them look, very solid construction.

You can go the budget route and use the old army trick of cut up blankets or foam mattresses and tape. You will have to replace this from time to time but it works ok. The saddle type is definitely better though.
