MCR Piston Design and Length Change

Wolverine has announced the MCR will now have a mid-length instead of carbine length piston system, and a piston cup will be added to the system to lengthen the system and add more flexibility to the system.

Why in the name of everything holy would they not make use of the same piston and just lengthen the cup that 1/8 of an inch?

Maybe they plan to sell retrofit piston kits? This way they can charge for extra parts

It's just dumb. Extra parts for the sake of extra parts?

I had no idea these rifles were even still being made.

The ones I saw back in the day were horrifying to look at.
They looked like something that was made in a high-school machine shop.

Hopefully this new generation is better.

Hopefully when things are out alignment the piston will pop out of the looser piston cup instead of snapping in the tight gas block hole. Time will tell.
