Hello

What can I expect in terms of a cheek weld/ use of optics on my MDT LSS if I were to use an A2 fixed butt stock (old m16 style)

I have a remington 700 sps. 223 with a vortex viper 3-9x40 1" tube and medium no name rings.

I imagine I may need to mount my scope higher so I might need new rings, but I'm not sure and hoping to find some advice here.

This will be used just for a light(er) fun/ plinking gun.

I plan on buying a proper adjustable stock once I can find a buyer for one of my kidneys, but for now I need something relatively inexpensive to get the ball rolling and thought this might be a cool option. My backup plan is a magpul ctr or something with one of those snap in cheek risers. Maybe there are other options for adding a cheek riser to a standard ar stock that I'm unaware of? (Im not into ARs so I have no idea what to expect in terms of options and compatibility)

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

It should work OK once you buy some vet wrap and a mouse pad. Cut the mouse pad into strips and then build up the cheek piece until you have a good weld.

It is the original tacticool.

Ok, I was worried it might be too high. I can deal with too low. I might just give it a shot. Worst case...that's what the EE is for.

I got my A2 stock and MDT fixed stock adapter today from Bullseye London. Perfect purchase with them as usual.

I got the stock for about $85 and the adapter for about 50.
I'm definitely taking the vet wrap advice, just waiting on amazon. I'm heading to the range tomorrow so for now duct tape will have to do, lol.

It turned out exactly exactly how I wanted. I was on the fence about the LSS until I considered this option. Once I get a better cheek riser made up I'll be happier but this might just have made it into the "keeper" pile.

What’s the LOP? Appears to be quite a bit longer than on an AR. Over 14” would be my guess.

I'm not sure off hand. But to give an idea, I'm about 5,8' and fairly thin and it feels great. I suspect it would be a bit longer than an AR due to the MDT adapter. I can measure and get back to you later.
