Hello, I am wondering if anyone has some experience with one or both of these chassis. I'm looking to upgrade my Tikka T3x, and am interested in both these, but unsure which way to go.

LSS can be very light and very minimal. LSS fore end is in my view barely functional and hard to grip in any reasonable manner. LSS XL fore end is significantly more metal and size weight.

ESS is the other side of the spectrum - a lot of material a lot of curves and shapes, significantly nicer to hold of hand, but visibly heavier. If you are going to hunt and need minimalistic but rough around corners setup - LSS. If you want range gun - ESS.

Having said that, as of now, top range heavy heavy setup is ACC. Top light weight hunting is HTN26. Both are significantly better in their respective uses. If I was going cheaper I would take MDT Field with practically the same features or MDT XRS. Both LSS and ESS are a bit outdated for what they are right now.

I'm curious, having not handled any of these chassis, what make the ESS and LSS chassis outdated?

I like the suggestions of the Field and XRS stocks. The HTN26 is also one that I've looked at, but that one happens to be one of their most expensive chassis systems.

I have the LSS XL and I like it for a hunting stock. I think the XL is better than the regular LSS for use with a bipod. But being aluminum it gets real cold when he temps drop into the negative double digits. For a precision rifle I'd go with the XRS or ESS. Don't have any experience with the ESS but I have used the XRS. I like the ergonomics of it and the foreend has a wide flat bottom which is good for shooting of off obstacles. Has a decent amount of weight to which helps mitigate recoil.

I've also used the cadex strike nuke which is similar to the XRS. I prefer the XRS for the foreend reasoning above the cadex is narrower and more rounded. Also I find design of the cheek piece adjustment sturdier on the XRS.

I'd definitely try to see if you can get your hands on the stock/chassis before purchasing to see what you like.

I had the LSS XL with fixed interface, note that the fixed interface forend is 1 Mlok longer than then carbine. Liked it so far not too heavy. For an hunting/shooting chassis i would def go with LSS XL fixed with the LITE SRS butstock. Everything else is too heavy. Xrs is also very interesting. Krg is 1 lbs lighter but i find the forend too short and the side panels misalignment is a no go to me. My .002

Big MDT fan.
I have owned and shot the LSS. LSS XL, XRS (i have two of these) and I have shot the ESS.
For carry in the field, only the LSS and LSS XL made any sense as they were pretty light in carbine.
The ESS is super ###y but i wouldn’t own one for my own use.
For PRS, the ACC seems to have set the bar and that makes sense cuzbu can load it witha tone of weight and balance it perfectly.

Im about to try the field on a couple of rifles I actually carry hunting.
In my opinion, it compares favourably to the Magpul Hunter but includes the bottom metal and has a much better grip angle.

Have found it oretty difficult to actually get my hands on a chassis before ordering one as retail outlets are limites.
Cabelas has the XRS in store and the Field i think but u wont get to see any of the others.
