Im having issues with my polymer mdt 223 mags. When i load more than 2 rounds the loaded rounds tip down into the mags when cycling the bolt.

Are there any other mags that work with the lss chassis?

Do they rattle in your cadex chassis?

Mdt staff is at shot show so a reply is understandablely slow from them. Im hoping theres a fix if not ill try to figure something out. If i lose mag capacity i can trade thst for reliable function

MDT guarantees their mags to work in their chassis' so if you contact them Im sure they'll sort the issue out.

I've had an issue or two with MDT and they've made it right every single time including paying return shipping costs.

I had the same problem. They sent me another one and it did the same thing.

So with 2 mags I decided that Ill just take a file the inside of one of the lips and it seems to be working better now. I also close the bolt a little slower now and between the two it seems to be good.

My theory was that the base of the brass was getting pushed to far down into the mag and pushing the other rounds down, because it was to sharp of an angle to get the round out of the mag and into the chamber. Dont know if that it right or not but seems to support my theory. :)

Does this happen you are firing the rifle?

No it happens when closing the bolt. If only one or 2 live rounds in the mag it works fine but anymore it has issues. Even going very slowly it still happens. Its like theres no support for the front of the follower and it tips inward. Its not fun trying to rattle rounds out of the mag

Good to know its not just me having issues. I noticed a screw on the bottom of the mag but havent tried opening one up yet. Ill wait to see what mdt says. Im in no real rush. For load development i shoot slowly anyway and not to often i need more than 2 or 3 shots while calling coyotes. Besides that im on day shift for the next 2 weeks so wont be out much hunting.

Is this after firing a round or are you just loading and unloading?

I had an issue with .223 poly mags in my old LSS. I was getting jams or failures to strip rounds from the mags (2 mags) they seemed to fit loose in the chassis and sat too low.

Not sure if this is exactly what is happening. Sounds like there may be something else going on. But I'm not the first to have that issue . Either way I would get in touch with mdt.

I contacted MDT and within a week I had a kit of 3 different mag latches and a pilot pin for easy installation free of charge. One of the provided catches fit perfectly and I never had another issue. Absolutely stellar resolution of my problem thanks to MDT!!

Excellent to hear that they made things right by sending 3 different mag latches, that’s a great approach! Thanks for sharing!

Cheers, Barney

Mostly when loading a round into the chamber but sometimes they mag loaded rounds nose dive into the mag as i open the bolt. Dont know if it happens at the moment of firing or retraction of the bolt but theyre pointed down by the time i can see down into the mag

Ive emailed mdt. Ill wait for a response. Im passed the 30 day as i just got around to completing the setup. The mags were ordered during black friday. They showed up in december. Postal strike held them up.

MDT mags don't work well in my RPR. Rounds end up vertical in the mag... total fail. Two mags... same results.

The Ruger mags for the RPR have actually worked perfectly.

Ironically Ruger seems to have discontinued the RPR in 223 but I would suggest that you try and get some of the RPR 223 mags, if they are still available.

What rifle?

A lot of our staff are getting back now and we will be able to work with you guys soon! It almost sounds like your follower is hanging up or the rounds are staying in the feedlips too long. What action are you using?

Also, with the RPR, our magazines are not optimized for the Rugers in 223 as they require the longer feedlips of the OEM Ruger mags that are made by accurate.

That would be great. I wish i could go to shot show

It was a very good show for our company this year and it's one of those things that you have to go down and experience to understand :)

As for your issue, that is quite peculiar. The 783 is a pretty forgiving, 2-lug action and feeds almost anything like the R700. I am assuming that this is then a magazine issue and we will work with you to modify your magazines to work or just replace them outright! Depending on who you're working with at MDT, I am sure they'll sort you out, or just PM me and I'll see what I can do.
