I got to hold one at a local gunstore and really fell in love with the feel of the whole package with a PRS. I was ready to get one but I did some reading and there are more than a few bad reviews online. Mostly concerning the Stock connecting piece coming loose after a couple long shooting sessions creating a wobble that won't tighten up. As well as a few reports of inconsistent groupings and the action coming loose.

So for the fellows on the site that have had one for awhile. Have you noticed any trouble? Do you shoot a lot of rounds in one sitting? Do you shoot groups larger than three rounds? Did you have a baseline for accuracy before putting it in the Tac21 to compare too. Are you still happy.

My main concern is the cost adding the mag, grip, and stock/buffer tube compared to the XLR evolution that seems to get high praise in most reviews.

Thanks

Jason

I own two MDT chassis, the LSS-xl (.223) and the HS3(.308) both with the Magpul PRS. I have yet to have any issues with either products. I think they make an excellent product and would continue to use MDT and Magpul products. Granted I have no experience with the TAC21 chassis. Also their polymer mags are stellar as well. Just my two cents

I had a MDT Tac 21 for my Remington 700 prior to selling the package.

I can't speak for accuracy after putting the Remington in the MDT Tac 21 chassis with a PRS, as I acquired the rifle already in the chassis. The rifle shot tight groups at 100 yards, and I was very satisfied with how the rifle performed. I usually shot 5 round groups and shot probably around 30 rounds per session for that particular rifle.

I did have an issue where my barrel/action came loose while I was at the range. Took me a while to realize that was the cause for my groups going all over the place that day, but after re-tightening it it never came loose again (over the course of 8 months and a few hundred rounds).

Overall I was pretty happy with the chassis, but I can't compare it to anything else as it was my first rifle in a chassis.

I sold my Tac21 to get a Cadex...

One of the reason I upgraded was The PRS never had enough adjustment and the cheek piece would max out before I would get proper sight picture.

The finish was easily damaged and chipped, after 2 years of use it looked like I abused the crap out of it.

And my group sizes stayed the same, No improvements from the accustock.

I was lucky enough to pick mine up for 400$ and got 2 years of trouble free shooting out of it. But I don't think I would pay full MSRP for one...

The MDT LSS is a better value,

Like DILLIGAF I sold mine to get a Cadex as well lol.

That does remind me. The finish on the chassis was 'soft'. I remember a few times making little marks on the chassis from my finger nail if it rubbed against the chassis. Marks would also be caused when I was inserting the magazine if I didn't get it at the right angle the first go around.

I had the first generation Tac21 from the very first batch. I never once had a problem with it. I know how to torque screws down properly and the butt end of the chassis was still tight right up to the day I sold it. I sold it this year and moved to the HS3 as the build I was doing was not compatible with the Tac21 chassis.

I had a Tac 21 and I used an adhesive to ensure that there was no wobble from the PRS. Depending on the adhesive used, tt makes for a pretty permanent fix.

I can't say anything about the tax 21 but I did get a xlr carbon chassis a few months ago. It's rock solid, the finish is tough as nails, and I've been banging away hundreds of rounds nothing has come loose. Good product. Looks great as well..

As with any new product there were a few issues with the first gen. The current gen has addressed the issues of the stock cap "play" or coming loose.

If your action screws are properly torqued to the correct tension, they will not come loose. I have never had an issue with action screws loosening off of any of the stock/chassis that I have used over the years.

A friend of mine RugerBlast has one and has done few Barney clinics with it. The rifle groups well out to 500M and has had no issues.
The only thing that I dislike about the TAC 21 chassis is the access to the safety on a Remington 700.
I have no idea how it is on a Savage.
