Hey guys, I was snooping around and found out some info on the latest batch of M14s.

Mine is marked: MADE IN CHINA CJA SFLD MI

Translation: China Jing An, CJA was both an exporter and importer, as they operated as an importer out of an office in Southfield, Michigan.

I dont know if these guys are still around (CJA) but they didn't get their rifles because of the "imported gun ban" in the U.S.

There loss is our gain.

All the receivers sold in the past 4+ years have had these markings. It must have been a big order that was cancelled. Now we are getting to the tail end of the receivers that are left. Indeed our gain.

In addition to the receiver markings, the bayonet lugs are absent, and the flash hiders are welded on to comply with US import restrictions at the time the parts were manufactured.

Any idea when these where manufactured?

Also, I heard a rumor that they had been made on Springfield machinery - any truth?

I like researching things like this.

I have heard that Taiwan obtained US machinery for M-14 production. The People's Republic certainly did not. The rifles being imported into Canada are being assembled from parts originally made for sale in the US, so the parts were made a number of years ago. I do not recall the year that the US blocked further imports of these rifles. The US market is closed, and commercial sales elsewhere might not be sufficient to justify new production. When the existing supply is exhausted, perhaps that will be it.

I have 3x M305s and 2 have the same information embossed on the side and one is different:

Anyone know anything about the differences?

Norinco has many plants - the bottom gun could have been made in a different plant working on the same order or series of orders. Or simply off a different production line with a different set of stamps and different hammers. The top one looks like it was hand stamped, the bottom, rolled. They were also cast from different moulds.
