Its funny, I remember him talking about all of these episodes on his podcast.
The podcast episode with the butcher from Texas thats also on those episodes of the show is a fantastic listen. Highly recommend it.
I did laugh out loud at the pains he was going to make the Nilgai hunt seem harder then it was. "Its not exactly shooting fish in a barrel". Then minutes later the guide says "If we bend over and walk single file he'll thnk were another nilgai and run at us" Which it does. LOL. I do fully understand the nuances of that hunt and what that episode was about though. It was primarily about butchering.
As a huge Rinella fan, I agree with what you're saying, and I feel like the pressure is on him to bring more "star power" to the show and grow his business, which is fine.
I think we all just want more Steve, The Latvian Eagle and Ryan "Cal" Callahan.
Hoping part two involves more him with those two, and less about pseudo celebrity chefs and whatnot as I do feel like they take away from hunting aspect of things. That being said, it does fit with the MeatEater motto, which I really can't complain about.
My only complaint is that he doesn't have enough episodes! My Wife and all (she doesn't hunt or shoot....yet) both enjoy his show and podcasts from himself and Cal.
Their Youtube channel has a fair bit of original content as well. Both fishing and hunting episodes. They have a series called "MeatEater Hunts", also a fishing one called "Dos Boat". Episodes are 15-40 minutes long. Lots of butchering videos too.
I really enjoyed the few episodes down in South America. The many fish species they pulled out was pretty cool. I really like the cooking as much as the hunting aspect.
