MEC 600-Jr wad pressure adjustment question

I've been reloading 410's on a MEC 600-Jr for years. It has cranked out a lot of awesome loads from #9's to 000 Buck.

Just setting-up a used 600-Jr in 20ga. For the best crimps, I need about 60lbs wad pressure to make enough room. I adjusted the metal drop-tube down to achieve this pressure. However, in this position, the plastic internal drop tube pops out of the metal tube as it's not quite long enough (or the metal drop tube is down too far). I put the metal tube up a bit to keep the plastic tube inside the metal and I can only get about 40lbs pressure with the press adjusted this way.

Has anyone else experienced this? How did you adjust your set-up to make it work?

I'm using a published load for 2 3/4" 20ga from Lyman #4 Shotshell Manual. It's #6 1oz loads using AA hulls with 23gr Blue Dot and WAA20-F1 wad and Win 209 primer. The 1oz shot bar dispenses a little less than a full oz of shot - a good thing or this combination of components would not fit.

Thanks for your input - SD

Could you make an extension of the metal drop tube with light sheet metal (softdrink can)and maybe use expoxy to hold in place?
