Was loading some 28ga pheasant loads yesterday 3/4 oz #5 and was running into the larger shot "bridging" in the drop tube.Tapping on it would release the shot but slowed down the reloading process considerably.I've heard of guys putting powdered graphite in with the shot in the bottle prior to reloading but not sure if this is fact or where to acquire such? Feedback or solutions?

Further research has shown some switching to steel shot tubes but not a cure by any means.Plan "B" is a manual shot scoop . You can't really lubricate the inside of the tube with any kind of petroleum product as it may contaminate the powder.

The steel tube and bottle will help but how slow is slow. When I am reloading like no.5 and 6 shot it may be 6 boxes max for the year so the little tap doesn't bother me
Yes graphite will help but it is dirty . Here it can be picked up at any farm supply store
Cheers

I have a similar problem with my 650jr for .410. Larger shot holds up in the narrow feed tube. I use a plastic tapper to assist the shot to drop in. I just got used to it. I can still load a couple hundred shells in one sitting.

I'm torn between just loading 2.5" shells or getting a short kit to load both.I've heard when you switch them out there is a lot of readjustments to be done which defeats the purpose for me.
