Hi. I just bought a couple of nice looking Mec-Gar magazines designed for the Sig Sauer p226. I wanted them for my Norinco NP22.
They do not seem to fit without slamming the crap out of them.
Has anybody faced this problem and what did you do to fix it?
I am thinking about taking a Dremel to the magazine retention/release holes and enlarging them.
What do you think?
Thanks,
Glen

I had mecgar mags with my Sig p226 and they were perfect. Drop free, no jams and always locked the slide on an empty mag.

Are you sure the problem is not your norinco out of spec vs Sig ???

Had the same issue with my NP-58

The fellow that made your NP-22 didn't cut your frame short enough. I had to remove some material from the bottom of my frame as it was OBVIOUSLY too long (IE SIG factory grips were significantly shorty then the nork frame). It wasn't difficult, I used an abrasive paper on a flat surface then dragged the bottom of the mag well across until the mag seated with a press. Wouldn't you know it the grip/frame fit was near perfect after that.

I checked the mag lengths against each other and measured the length of the inside of the grip to the magazine retainer and it turns out that the plastic base of the Mec-Gar magazines are too thick for my frame by about 1/16th of an inch.
I was thinking about shaving the plastic down but now I think I will just buy some Norinco magazines and sell the Mec-Gars.
Thanks for the tips guys,
Glen

take 1/16th off the lip of the plastic bit at the bottom of the mag where it meets the magwell not modding the frame needed mine fit perfect now. I just used a dremel and a light stone

Do that. Or at least if you do modify the Med Gar mags when they eventually list make sure to disclose the modifications. I wouldn't be too happy to buy mags that had been modified and to find out when they land at my house.
