This is for the 1911 frame platform. Conversion installs on a 1911 frame in place of the top-end & then uses a standard 9mm 1911 magazine for the ammo. It then converts your 1911 pistol to a 9mm carbine. Has 16" heavy barrel. This is the older version with fixed stock. Accessory rail installed on top.

Pic shows it with a cheap "Fitco" 1x40mm illuminated red dot 'site' installed on the rail.

What's it worth?

I acquired one of these - the old model. Chronic failures to eject. Very frustrating. Got a new bolthead, runs like a champ. The bolthead is a small piece pinned into the large cylindrical bolt carrier; carries the firing pin and extractor. The problem was with the extractor design. Unless this one has been upgraded, it may have the same problem. This was limited to the 9mm unit, .45s were OK. I also bought the upgrade so a carbine buttstock unit could be used. The buttstock conversion kit is the sheet metal casing with the stock adapter at the rear.
With these upgrades and a Leupold 1X Prismatic on top, it is a great shooter; really accurate. It is a very clever rig.
What is it worth? These 9mm/1911 units are seen so seldom that I don't think there is an established value here. Apart from the one I bought I do not recall seeing another. If it does not have the new model bolthead installed, it might be problematic. If it hasn't been upgraded, the price should be downgraded.
I note that the current starting price for a unit is US$465.

Thanks for the info....

I believe this one has had an upgrade. It has a good extractor on it. I have not fired it myself but a buddy who had it before ran it on a couple different 1911A1 frames. One frame, a vintage WWII USGI 1911A1 and the other, one of the unmarked Norinco 1911A1's without issue.

I note from the Mech Tech website they also recommend using a 1911 frame with the 9mm ejector installed with the 9mm carbine conversion units but buddy used 1911 frames that also obviously had the stubbier .45ACP ejector installed on them. The unit didn't have any trouble throwing out the 9mm empty casings.

IIRC, there was a Mech Tech unit that sold on the EE here in recent memory but unfortunately the ad is now long gone.

I've got a Norc NP29 that I could try it on. Thinking of swapping out the cheap Fitco red dot for a compact fixed 4x scope. I'd be happy if it can reliably plink gongs at 100. ;)

Its worth what someone is willing to pay. When it came out the only 9mm pistol caliber carbine available in Canada was the marlin camp nine which was pretty much impossible to find. Now we have lots of choices for PCC. Start it at 1000$ for your super rare mechtech and drop by 50 bucks a week. In a few months you might get 300$ you might get more or you might get less. They were not particularly desirable even when they were the only available option on the Canadian market.

Never said I was looking to sell it. ;)

The only real downside is that there is no automatic last shot bolt hold open. Only the manual lock back. Got to count to ten...
