I use a bit of Brasso on the finished rounds - and I was chastised for it soundly here, something to do with a chemical hardening of the brass from the brasso happening, or some such rubbish. A tbsp of Electrosol dishwashing detergent tossed in does wonders - it's nonfoaming, alkaline and a surfactant to boot - removes dirt and suspends it in the soap plus rinses clean - it it didn't, you'd never use it on the silverware again in the DW.
