MHRRC MIL SURP RIFLE MATCH

DATE: 7 August 2011
TEAM. 2 or 3 man teams dependant on numbers registered. If you are single don’t hesitate to come out
REGISTRATION: 9-930am of day of match $15 per person. Shooting starts 10 am sharp.

COURSE OF FIRE: this is a demanding 2 stage event. Upon the start signal 2 teams will advance to their firing position simultaneously with all the equipment they intend to use and with the firearms unloaded. As soon as all team members have reached the firing point, they may load and commence firing at the designated targets. Once all the targets in this stage have been eliminated, firearms will be unloaded and cleared by their Range Officer. Once the firearms have been cleared, the members may advance through the obstacles to the second stage. Once all team members have entered the second firing point they may load and commence firing until all the targets are down. The team that eliminates all their targets and knocks down the stop plate first will be declared the winner. There will be a 10 Min time limit. No equipment may be discarded along the way, except for empty magazines, clips, belts and empty ammo cans. A detailed range briefing will be given before the match.

TARGETS: Approx 50 reactive targets, varying in size and distance from 10m to approximately 300m. Note targets at or within 100m may be engaged with intermediate or pistol calibers only, i.e. 9mm, 30M1carbine, 7.62x39SKS. Targets beyond 100 meters may be engaged with any qualifying firearm you care to bring.

FIREARMS: any small arm produced and used by the allied and axis armies during WWII. Firearms of later manufacture but WWII issue, i.e. M 1Garand built in 1950, will be allowed. Sporterized stocks will also be allowed, but other non-issue add ons such as a target barrels compensators and optics will not qualify. Please contact the Match director if you have any doubts if your firearm will qualify. Every team will have to go through the entire event with all the firearms they started with, wither they intend to use them again or not. No changes to the quantity or types of firearms are allowed once you have started. The use of at least one side arm is mandatory. Current stock sidearms of any make in any calibre of the WWII era will be allowed . Once again no race guns.

SIGHTS: Iron sights or GENUINE WWII Scope

AMMO CONSUMPTION: no limit here, if you can carry it, you can shoot it ! Be aware you may have to shoot up to 4 times if you are good and lucky!

RULES: Standard range safety rules apply. Do not fire until your entire team is in the firing point. Do Not leave your firing point until ALL FIREARMS USED in that stage are cleared by your Range Officer. You may put your bolt forward AFTER the firearm has been cleared to prevent debris from entering the chamber while negotiating the obstacle. Procedural errors (shooting at targets at or within 100m with high power calibers, leaving your firing point before the team is cleared, etc) will result in the culprit becoming a casualty, which means he/she will have to be carried /dragged through the rest of the stage by the rest of the team. Although a casualty will not be allowed to fire for the remainder of the remaing stage’s he/she may support the team by spotting , loading magazines etc.

PRIZES: Trophies will be awarded for 1St and 2nd A side and 1St place on B side

PLACE: Medicine Rifle and Club Range

WHAT ELSE: Please come on out If you are short people for your team their may be others needing partners. Bring Mosquito repellent and your own refreshments as there may not be anything available at the range.

Garand I was out shooting the number 2 this morning to practice up. It is the only side arm I have that qualifies. Sounds like there is a team from my work coming out.

Yes as long as the design was issued during WWII on either side. So a brand new hi-power or 1911 qualifies.
