Meeting place for Newbies and Mentors -Manitoba

Hi everyone, I'm a 27 year old in west Winnipeg. Just got my RPAL and am looking to get into hunting and shooting. Did a bit of each in my teens but overall have very little experience.

If anyone has club recommendations (I've been looking at Selkirk Game & Fish) or would be willing to share crown land locations it would be appreciated.

Hi there. During this COVID nonsense all gun clubs are closed due to restrictions. I have membership to a range but cannot utilize.

I want to get shooting, where is there a good place near Winnipeg that I can shoot on crown land? How do I go about finding out how to locate these areas?

There was a long time I got in but never got chance to say hi. But better late than never. Have a good weekend everyone!

I would also be interested in knowing where there are some spots to go shooting on crown land in Manitoba. I don't know anyone who goes hunting and I've never been. I'm just looking to fire off some rounds though, not hunt.

Here’s a few places I can think of:

- Seddons corner area
- Sandilands
- Some spots past Anola
- Near St Anne’s
- Reynolds ponds is another area where lots of people shoot

Some guys have recommended using an app called ‘iHunter’. Overlays google maps with what each area is designated as.

Avoid certain areas during hunting season, and always clean up after yourself. If you can, try and bring some extra garbage back with you. Leave it cleaner than when you arrived. Have fun!

was out at the Reynolds area it’s a #### show garbage pilled up everywhere, sofas on side with bullet holes in them I assume they were used as targets lmao

Isnt there anyone in Manitoba who is willing to give some advice and/or help? I know there are people out there, a type of person i would really like to find is a gun nut lawyer. they are the ones that would know what i can and cannot do. if there is anyone who knows the firearms laws inside out i would love to be able to talk to you. I find Canadas firearms laws Incredibly screwed up.
I found out that not even law enforcement know the gun laws. They depend on the National Firearms association says. Did you know that the NFA will represent you for free in court?

Does Selkirk allow AR's on their rifle range? If things dont go my way, I'll definately give them a shout. A 200 yrd range probably makes more sense for the kind of shooting Im going to be doing anyway. Thanks for the info!
Aww man, this made me laugh a little because I took my AR there a few years back and 3 guys were sighting in there HP on the rifle range and I asked is it ok to pick on the gong, they looked at what I brought and said yeah....

Pew, pew, pew, pew, pew = Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, - Reload LOL It was fun. ahhhhh :( (Was - no thanks to libtards)

Not sure if anyone has asked here as I did not see and getting back into this more if I can. Does anyone do wild boar hunting in MB? If so what area / territory and how does one go about joining the hunting party ???? Wild boar is good eats and if they are considered pests from what I understand (not sure / correct me if I am wrong) that means no license and shoot as many as you like?

Hi I'm a new to reloading and I'm wondering If someone can help teach me how I know the basics iv loaded 200 rounds of 45 colt but I need help with rifle cartridges and shotshells I'm located in winnipeg thank you for your time

There are wild hogs in the Sprucewoods area. I've seen them occasionally, both my brother and dad have shot them in the park during whitetail season. Also south of Sprucewoods down to Cypress River area, but that's more farmland and would require land owner permission.

I feel bad because this was posted back in 2006… if only that user could predict how screwed up they would continue to get!
