Anyone got more info on this gun? All I could really find out is that its a Turkish made refinement on HK's 416 using some new alloy.

Refined and Turkish, you say? Does not compute.

"In February 1996, Turkey and Israel signed a historic military training agreement, followed six months later by an arms-industry cooperation pact. Since that time, military and economic ties between the two countries have blossomed. Both nations now fly and train in one another's airspace, share sophisticated intelligence information, enjoy extensive trade relations, and cooperate on joint security and weapons projects."

Lots of guns are being made in Turkey now, and apparently quite a few firearms companies are getting guns made there. Looks like its becoming a legit version of Darra.

You know, there are quite a few people I'd rather p*ss off than a Turkish soldier - those guys are mean buggers. Besides, if you drive a car with aftermarket ball joints, you're probably betting your life on Turkish metal

That may be so, but putting an ELCAN on top of it does not help to disprove any doubts.

The problem is, they're parading an HK416 proudly as if it were some marvelous indigenous breakthrough in Turkish engineering. The ELCAN and AG36 aren't helping either. Reminds me of the Chinese nationalism when the J-10 was unveiled, only to find out that it's based on the Lavi, which in turn is a redesigned F-16, with French and Israeli avionics, Russian engines and Russian technical input...

Who gives a ####. I want information on the gun not read a bunch of negative remarks about turkey or its politics.

No I changed my mind, lets make this thread have nothing to do with this gun at all.

Does anyone know what the weather is supposed to be like in turkey this week?

Beats the #### outa me...

Whatever the weather is like, it seems as plausible an explanation for "refinement" of the HK as anything proffered so far.

So?? There are quite a few people I'd rather piss off than a soldier from pretty much any nation on the planet. There are mean buggers everywhere. Why is that to be so respected. I'm sure some Nazi soldiers were badasses. Who cares?
