Gents,
Heads up on a number of mentored hunts in the Edmonton area. I am one of the coordinators for Hunting for Tomorrow. We target youth and first time adult hunters for mentored hunting experiences. I am looking for new hunters, both rifle and bow, and in particular youth hunters.
We have a number of planned events. You can see province wide the schedule at w w w.huntingfortomorrow.com.
Three events I would like to hightlight are:
Provincal Hunting Day. Upland game bird hunt for youth and new hunters. Cooking Lake Blackfoot Grazing reserve (east of Edmonton). No cost but must bring blaze orange vest/jacket. See website for details. Paper needs to be in today (Friday 25th) in order to participate. Call Ken from AHEIA at 780-466-6682. He is the coordinator.
Bowhunting Mentored hunt. Genesse (west of Edmonton) 2-4 October. Camping in the area. Looking for youth, new bowhunters and mentors to assist with the program. Participates must be proficient with there bow to hunt. If not proficent and interested in developing skills or observing, that is also no problem. Concept is to provide a learning experience that leads to the participate become a regular hunter. This will be an annual event.
Bowhunting and Rifle Hunting. Private land near Athabasca. 16-18 October. Tenting and a cabin available for use. Looking for youth and new hunters. Same as above...need to be proficent with firearm/bow to hunt.
I am the coordinate for the two bow/rifle hunts above. If you have any questions, please let me know. These will be annual events. I need help if anyone is interested in supporting this effort to get more hunters in the bush.
Cheers
Jeff
