So I'm getting narrowed down to 2 scopes for a cz557 in .308. It will be a general purpose gun, mostly target shooting and plinking steel and also a main hunting rifle. Maybe 2 or 3 deer a year.

One is the vx freedom 4-12x40 CDS with the tri moa reticle and the other is the optika5 2.5-10x42 with the z-plus reticle which is also a moa based reticle.

Anyone with hands on experience want to chime in?

I have two VX Freedoms, one a 3-9x40 and the other the one you have (4-12x40). Both I bought recently. I can say both of them have very good glass, adjustments are easy, though the only thing I would say is that my 4-12x40 had some issues with the rings I selected, even though the scope and rings were the same measurement. It may be the scope because I have a 3-9x40 Vortex and used those rings and didn't have the same problems with the rings (it may be the rings' compatibility with the scope). I am surprised that the Leupolds didn't come with lens covers, as all my Bushnells and Vortexes came with the lens covers. But the Leupolds were noticeably clearer from various distances compared to the Vortexes of similar configuration.

I have heard good things about Meopta - it's a Czech company I think. I know a couple of people who have them (scopes and binoculars) and they all love them.

Thanks for the offer remyltr but I'm a couple hundred miles from you.

Any hands on with the optika5 line? I'm likely ordering a scope sight unseen... To be honest it's what I may end up with. It just looks correct on a cz somehow, the euro scope on a euro gun thing... That being said I have a 2-7 Leupold on my 527 carbine.
