Merkel SR1

Has anybody seen or read any reports on these new rifles ?
Apparently its Merkel's first semi-auto, and comes in interesting chamberings like 300 Win. Mag., 9.3x62, and others.
It looks like a very well-built piece and is apparently priced in the $2000 range.
According to Kevin @ Epps they'll be available in 2-3 months.

I like the look of the thing. The promotional video was really cool too. But I am sure that a Ruger for 1/2 the cost will outperform it is the accuracy department. But then maybe this does not matter much in practical hunting situations.

My thought is that if I were to go with a Merkel, it would be the K1 Jadg, which is so cool it is scary. The price might be scary too, but I never saw an example for sale.

You would certainly be the only one of the gun range with a K1. The double rifles are really great too, but I suspect they would set you back the price of a good North American sports car. It makes me sick that I cannot afford the really nice things in life. I should have listened to my mother and gone into the cocaine business.

It caught my interest because any Merkel firearms I've handled were very accurate shooters, super comfortable to handle and exceptionally well put together.
As much as I enjoy my beloved bolt guns I'm thinking that Merkel might be a little easier to handle in the field for a 61 year old buzzard thats gettin a touch of arthritis in the shoulders...
