Santa Claus (also known as Mrs Sailor723) was very good to me this year. One of these was under the tree yesterday. It's my first foray into the world of 1911's....can't wait to get to the range next week!

All I have to do now is figure out how to strip and re-assemble it with the "paper clip" method.:runaway: ;)

That reminds me...the boys at Prophet River should be getting my baby in right away too, Dec. 29/2014. I better get their number on speed dial. Does anybody know Tanner's home number? I would like to be able to phone him up in the middle of the night to hassle him about an ETA as well ;)

......and I managed to get it apart (and back together!) with only a minor amount of fumbling and cursing.:d

I can see how the "idiot scratch" is only a matter of time

I did the "Logman" modification to the slide stops of all my 1911's. You can look it up on the internet. It really helps to keep the slide stop in proper position and avoid the idiot scratch.
Here's a pic of my slide stop after the mod - easy to do with a needle file.

The other thing I found with my STI Trojan and TargetMaster was that it was difficult to insert a mag without depressing the mag release. I did some research and contacted Freedom Ventures. Not an uncommon problem and easy to fix by rounding off the the part of the mag release that makes contact with the magazine. Here's a pic of the modified Trojan and unmodified TargetMaster slide stops. Now I can insert a mag with just a firm push.

STI Trojan range report

Out to the range today and put 150 rounds through my new Trojan in .45acp. No FTF or FTE's.... the gun worked flawlessly and felt great....solid, substantial and like it was finely made. I think I was more accurate with it at 25 yards than I usually am any of my 9's but perhaps not quite as good as my S&W 586. I really like the Dawson fibre optic front sight.

I think I'm in love.:d

Well don't be surprised if she tightens up a bit over the next thousand rounds or so. Sometimes these 1911's tend to have a 'break in' process. I will bet that thing goes head to head with the revolver with a little more trigger time.
