Merwin and hulbert .38 antique?

I see some nice Merwin and Hulbert revolvers in .38 cal on Gunbroker and I'm wondering if they are classed as antique. From what I can find out it's similar to .38 S&W but is called .38 Merwin and Hulbert. Anyone know what the Govt. view is on this?

True enough.
Unless the RCMP consider .38 MH to be .38 S&W.
Better call the CFP, connect to a tech. in Ottawa, and find out for sure.

I think it has been posted several times on this forum that the 38 M&H was close enough to a 38 S&W that the RCMP consider it to be one and therefore a restricted weapon rather than an antique

According to the FRT, MH .38 centrefires are either restricted or prohibited, depending on barrel length.
The rimfires are antique.
It appears that .32MH is not considered to be .32S&W or .32Colt, so these are antique.

38 M&H used to be considerd antique in Canada i have had a few with CFC Antique Letters.
But the RCMP took over the CFC and as soon as they found out that M&H when they made the 38 CF M&H Revolvers stated in there adds back in the 1880s that the guns shot both 38 M&H ammo and 38 S&W so thats the reason they stoped giveing the 38 CF M&H antique status .

.32 MH was produced several years before the creation of the .32 S&W. The 38 MH however is considered the same as 38 S&W and is NOT antique.

Reminds me of the Brits at one time considering 5.5 velo-dog ammo prohibited probably because some gubmint investigator found a box of the stuff sitting on the back shelf in a shop for 90 years
