Hi Guys,

This is my first official venture into a tactical shotgun. I am just starting and I don't have much experience. I made an attempt to get into the game a few years ago by buying an 870 and a knoxx stock but I grew a dislike for the stock and sold everything. So...I'm taking another stab at it and I have inspiration from a few different shotties I have seen. Here she is as of tonight. Thanks to Mike at Canam for getting me going.

My plans are:

Duracoat everything including optic in Duracoat Vltor FDE
Buy a 12.5" DA Barrel
Possibly jimmy rig a Limbsaver Recoil Pad on the Moe stock
Get a Cheek riser for the Moe Stock
Some type of Tri rail forearm or a Knoxx Forearm if I can find one
A weapons light
A vertical grip

It doesn't have an Enidine shot shock on it right now. I have shot a 12g with a limbsaver and it reduced recoil enough. I don't have a castle nut wrench right now either so I have to get one to tighten things up. I just slapped everything together to get motivation to finish it.

I am thinking I might need to get a full length CQB rail so I can have BUIS put on. Anyways. I will post pics of progress and groupings as I go along. Hopefully I can get a barrel this week and begin painting. I would appreciate suggestions and or tips on getting items I still need.

The one on the top is what I want to somewhat accomplish.

No need for either of those things with the Fab Defence colapsable stock.

In addition, Magpul sells an "enhanced" butt pad.

Thanks for the info. That stock is interesting. It uses more of a knoxx style system to reduce recoil. The cheek riser would be really handy too.

I thought of putting on a limb saver because it seems they are designed to absorb recoil on high powered rifles/shotguns. I don't know how well the "enhanced" butt pad would work. Have you tried one on a shotty before?

Hi Guys,

Thanks,

is it me or the castle nut is upside down?

and this stock is a PTS isn't it? its for airsoft and militatry training ? cause I got the same and it work fine. what buffer tube did you choose milspec or commercial?

The castle nut might be on backwards. Its the first time I have tightened one. I just put it together for motivation. it worked too because I bought a 12.5" grizzly barrel from hi caliber today.

The stock is a genuine magpul moe stock. milspec.

Definitely great pictures of your shotties. It so happened that the parts I found matched your 12.5 build. Here she is as of tonight. This is such a fun project right now. My intent is not just to see how many tacticool accessories I can slap on. I want to really run this gun in different configurations to see what works and what doesn't. I won't be convinced of things until I try them, so it is an experiment in using multiple add ons and customizing multiple pieces to find the right combo for me. So.....here she is as of tonight. Thanks to mp5k for the barrel and shazam for the s&j rail and hk sights.

The s&j rail is perfect for getting sights on without permanently attaching them to the barrel/receiver. It adds weight over the mesa rail but it is a beneficial trade off for the role it plays. I wonder why it is not anodized though?

As you may see the optic sits quite low. The picture is quite jumbled with the red dot, the aperture & the hooded front site. I am requesting help on how to make these three pieces mesh together. My ideas are to get a riser for the rds so the back ups sit in the lower part of the picture and remove about a 1/3 of the material from the hood in the front site so it doesn't interfere with the rds. All in all for a more cleaner tidier sight picture. This crappy picture gives you an idea of the generally jumbled picture

I am still missing a fore arm. If someone has a blackhawk/hogue/railed fore arm they are willing to part with please pm me.

I will be painting the whole thing vltor fde duracoat, hopefully this weekend. It is my first attempt at airbrush painting a rifle.

I am still planning to add:

- Riser for bushnell sight
- Cheek riser for stock (if needed after raising rds)
- Limbsaver grind to fit medium butt pad for moe stock
- Weapons light - Perhaps surefire g2 or fenix tk15
- Fore arm (Blackhawk/Hogue/Railed)

Please offer suggestions on a riser for my sight and if I should alter the front hood on the sight or not.

Thanks,

I think the YHM .5" riser would put the TRS in a better position. Has anyone purchased one from a dealer before? Any .5" riser really should work.

Are you going to beadblast the items 1st??
If not you may not have much luck withthe pint sticking to the S&J rail as its very smooth and very hard type III anodizing.
Amake goes for the pump forend, its stamped spring steel, will need to be blasted if you plan on keeping the paint on for a long time and not having to refinish.

I have a sandblaster and compressor I just haven't the time and space to set it up. I don't think I will be able to blast it at this point. I will just try to coat it. By the time it wears out I should have my sandblast set up operating and I can re finish at that point I guess. I didn't think I would have such a problem. Thanks for giving me a heads up.

Turned out very nice...! Need better pics though... Foregrip going to be FDE like the stock & grip..?

* I think the trigger guard (if it hasn't been coated), and rail would've looked killer black, to break-up the earth tones...

(I know you said it was Armacoat Vltor FDE, but it lookss brighter than the grip & stock)

:)
