Has anyone successfully mounted a Mesa Tactical (4 round) SureShell shell carrier to the receiver of your Dlask SMD12?

If you have, what is the part number (of the Mesa model that works)?

My question would be, why wouldn't it? IIRC, the SMD12 is a Remington 870 receiver with the mag shortened. With the 2,4,6 round mesa holder, the fore end can over lap the front of the receiver. If you live close to London, On, I can let you try mine for fit.

The six-round shell carrier doesn't fit an SMD12. That I know.

I want to hear from someone who has found a Mesa shell carrier to fit their SMD12.

I just ordered the picatinny rail + 4 round shell carrier combo from Mesa for my SMD 12 . while the 6 rounder won't fit because it interferes with the back of the SMD12 foreend on the back stroke, there's no reason why the 4 rounder shouldn't work ( just like the above photo with the front two round carriers removed). Wendell PM me in about 3 weeks to remind me to post the results.- hopefully it'll have arrived by then.

for a part number, go to their website (w w w.mesatactical.com) & download their catalog.

Mesa 4-shot, left side #90320. Remember, they also have a 4-shot for the right side of the 870, #90600.

Just installed the 6 rounder Mesa sidesaddle (with the picatinny saddle mount incorporated) on my 8.5 inch full stocked 870 (predecessor to the SMD 12- very short foreend) - the one in my avatar. then I took the SMD 12 and compared. With the forend fully back it appears to overlap by the width of 1 shell and a bit- so the 4 rounder should fit quite nicely.

As a side note I found that with an Eotech mounted at least one of the shells (high brass) had to be put in nose up since the edge of the rim interfered with the ARMS lever on the mount. not a big deal since its easier to feed the mag tube when the shells are mounted nose up. It may be possible to put 6 low base shells all nose down -din't test that since all i had on hand were high brass shells.

OK the 4 round Mesa side shellcarrier with rail arrived today -part #92160. It fits perfectly, there is barely 3/16" of clearance from the front shellholder with the foreend fully back :D:D- it looks like it was designed for the SMD 12. The short Eotech fills up the rail - there is one slot to spare.

(I know - "this thread is useless without pics" - but while I finally found my wife's camera, haven't found the interface cable yet.:()
