hey guys
well had my escort shot gun for a while now and had it at the range twice since I bought it just to run it through couple of boxes of target shells and small hand full of slugs to make sure it all worked...
finally got off my but and cleaned it yesterday and noticed down the barrel were metal shavings small but still ....never seen this before in any of my other guns...
after cleaning barrel looks nice nice...
any thoughts, normal?
Glenn.

Hopefully it's just some burs(sp?) that were shaved off. Good thing you caught it when you did as it could accelerate wear in some unintended places.

well
I stripped the entire firearm and nothing seems out of place or scratched or missing anything
so I'm stumped
the barrel is smooth no scratches dents or even a mark
I have to say kinda freaked me out when I started to take apart and saw them...only place was 3/4 down barrel everywhere else was either clean or just dirty
last time i shot it was to "brake it in"
three boxes of target loads and six slugs i think
thanks for any thoughts
Glenn.

very strange then... did u do a full strip when you bought it? What is their QC like? Maybe some parts not finished quite properly so there was a bit of fitment wear on the first few shots? What volume are we talking about. Give it a thorough cleaning and lubing and take it out again and see how it goes...

I did strip it down when I bought it as I do with every new purchase.
I'm hoping it was just a one time thing as I havn't had time to take it out to back of my property, fall clean up and all
Never had seen this ever before so wanted to ask
thanks

When I first got mine, I did a full tear down. Found a spot or two that was a little gritty, but it was pretty clean. After reading this thread and running only one box through mine, I thought I'd better check. No filings, but I did find two small pieces of plastic. Clear, slightly curved and just the right thickness. Damned it. Must be pieces of the follower. Follower checks out ok, so I'm not sure where the bits came from. Glad there were no other surprises!

have you put any slugs through it yet?
I'm thinking target loads didn't cause this but was the slugs maybe
not sure when I'll have time to try another few rounds though

I had a similar scare once. metal filings only in the barrel AFTER I had run the cleaning rod through it a few times. after the initial fear, I fooled around a bit and figured out that it was just my aluminum cleaning rods losing small shavings as they rubbed against the edge of the barrel while I was working the rod up and down. You should maybe clean your barrel again and see if you can determine if the shavings are coming from your cleaning rods.
