Metal guide rod vs plastic

Great photo! I don't know about the guide rod, I doubt it makes any difference - mine still has the plastic one, but I may change it for a stainless steel one strictly for looks. What I really want to know is where did you get the magazine with the silver baseplate?
I had some German made silver paint in my garageTurned out to be a perfect match.

Yep, the one that is used for a German cars. I used it for my Audi rims a while ago. Wurth paint.
Is it me or really using metal guide rod improves accuracy?

If there is a difference to accuracy it would be likely due to the added mass making the gun kick a little less. Which is why substituting a plastic or short metal rod with a steel or longer rod is not allowed in some competition classes.
I must admit that I do prefer steel rods just for the sense of added quality it provides when I field strip the guns for cleaning.... which may be why I have yet to own a plastic gun as well....
Edit- Oops, I lied. I do have a .22 with a plastic lower. Almost forgot about that one.

I would say it has very little to do with accuracy, but it gives a person a sense of durability. 96's came with steel rods, the 92's and M9 I had came with plastic. I got rid of the plastic for steel rods. Other manufacturers, such as Glock and S&W use plastic rods all the time, and you never hear of them breaking or causing issues.
The M&P has a steel rod. My CZ's all have polymer rods. I don't see where it makes a difference.
