I decided to spend a few bucks on better mag holders (currently running a couple of doubles that I'd like to replace). Metal DAA ones are about $20 over plastic offerings. Are they worth the extra cash wrt draw speed and durability? Do plastic ones wear out? Thanks in advance for any info you guys can give me.

I still have some of my plastic mag pouches that date back to 1993 and a previous owner. The fake leather basketweave is peeling off in places and they're permanently stained tan/brown from dust at various US nationals in Oregon and Las Vegas and World Shoots from 3 continents. I've fallen on them (going prone), stepped on them, got them caught on props/doorways and stuffed them into packed suitcases.
They still work just fine.
In fact, I can't blame any poor performance or a failure to win on the mag pouches or the material that they're made of.

i have racers as well and see no need to move to the race masters. That said, if you are a larger guy you may want the race masters so you can cant them outward a little to help with your reloads. I'm skinny and am slightly obsessive about having all my gear at 90 degrees to my body so racers are perfect.
Hypothetically speaking.. Let's say my weight stays the same, does the velcro ever crap ou to the point of not sticking? Was considering taking advantage of Doubletap's bundle since I could get a spare belt at the cost of only $40.. Might do it anyway so I have a separate belt for 3gun stuff, for example.
I run multiple belts for different divisions, but not for redundancy in the same division.
The Velcro lasts for years, and will wear out so gradually that you'll have plenty of time to source a replacement when the time comes. On the other hand if there's a deal to be had, buy it and put it in the cupboard... it won't go bad (although by the time you need it some other belt may have caught your fancy that you'd rather have instead).

I'm a bigger guy (to put it "lightly") and all I've noticed is that after 2 1/2 seasons the velcro on my outer belt (the hooks) on my CT speed belt wore out. I attached some new velcro and all is well again. If you expect to run multiple divisions/setups it would be worthwhile to set up dedicated rigs, but that's just for convenience.

I got the racers from Doubletap (great service as always), plus saved a few bucks on having an extra belt. They definitely look sturdy enough to last long enough not to make it worth the extra cost to get metal mags. Just put in the right inserts for the Shadow mags, and on the belt they go tonight.

Have both the racers and race masters. Happy I have the RM for the adjustability, but I'd just buy racers if I was to do it again.
For polymer mags, I find the racers much smoother on the draw.

They work well enough with metal mags too.. Definite improvement over the Bladetech double mag pouches. Love the adjustable tension (especially after I flattened the springs a little). Just took them out to play last night even though we didn't do too many mag changes, mostly just quick draw and 3 target drills.
