For the USGI stocks that do not have the necessary metal parts on them... is it advisable to try to remove the metal parts from my current stock and install them on the USGI stock?

Yes.
The metal parts should transfer over fine.

USGI synthetic stocks do not need a stock liner, and the top screw for the buttplate is different from wood stocks.

Alright, maybe I am out of the loop or living under a rock. Where does one obtain a GI M14 wooden stock?

I suppose the full auto parts should also be procured to fill the unsightly cutout in the stock...

They have been available at times through some vendor's and seen them at gun shows. Availability seems to come and go though so when you see one you need to be quick. I have 2 USGI stocks, one wood and one syn. I bought the wood stock at a gun show and the glass stock I bought from a store.

You can find (sometimes) a dummy selector switch to fill the cutout on the wood stock and JB weld works well to fill it on the glass stock. FYI a USGI stock may take some fitting to work safely on a Norc M14. My Norc had hammer follow through problems before fitting.

That sounds troublesome. How did you resolve the hammer follow-through?

The wood stocks need just a little bit of filing on the top right bedding surface where the receiver sits on the stock. It's pretty noticeable when you do a test fit. It's the roughly 1" long section just ahead of the selector cutout.

Leave it alone!

The U.S. G.I. stocks were designed so that all that extra schitt was not needed. Keep it simple stupid! Just drop the action in and away you go. Don't fukk with the GI stock!

The USGI stocks were designed to work with USGI rifles! Not Norc's. Read the stickies or talk to Hungry, the GI stocks may require some fitting to work safely with a Norc gun. If I had dropped mine in and away I went I would have been in trouble with that hammer follow through.

How did you fix your issue? I ordered a USGI fiberglass stock a couple days ago. Planning on reinforcing the fore end with fiberglass and filling in the selector and op rod pin area.
