If you're in the bush more than you're near a cleaning bench, or you spend a lot of time on boats and docks, you know the value of a finish that truly resists weather, water, sand, and rust. The elements can be extremely hard on machinery and guns are no different, but there are some jobs where less really is more, and maintenance is one of them. Mossberg's 590A1 Mariner has the milspec build quality demanded by the US military combined with the extremely tough matte electroless nickel Marinecote™ finish for true all-weather use. For those of on the west coast, this can be the single most important factor in deciding when a gun works and when it doesn't. Mossberg's 590A1 Mariner has synthetic black stocks that do not warp or crack in wet and hot temperatures, dual action bars, and all-metal safety block and trigger pack for the utmost in durability. The result is a tough, fast-pointing, handy shotgun that can survive trips in your kayak, nights in the dew outside your tent, rainy days at the range, and much worse.

Just buy one, you'll feel better once she's in your hands ;)

Haha, I know I know! This has been on the "list" for quite a while. I have the 500 JIC Mariner and I love it, but for all the thrashing around in the bush that I do, a 590A1 Mariner is really what the doctor ordered!

How durable is the marinecoat finish?

It's pretty good, no rust issues as of yet and I've had my 500 Mariner for 3 years now. It's my primary bush gun and has seen lots of rain, humidity, mosquitoes, etc. I have a creek and a river that run through my farm and a very large lake about 5 miles east of my farm so the humidity is pretty high most of the time. I'm happy with it!

Well there ya go. Maybe it's time to scratch that one off the "list". Just think, once you buy this one there will be one less gun on your list. ;)

dmc_82 speaks truth! All-metal trigger group and safety internals for all 590A1s. These adhere to the same requirements as the model 51663, the classic milspec 590A1 purchased en masse by the US military, they just have a different setup for sights and finish. They employ parts from the same production runs, internally.

Cheers,
Daniel
