I am almost done building my M1 Garand. It is using a Danish receiver that is that matt gray. But the rest of the parts are more standard black (blued?).

Is it worth doing a metal treatment on it? The Criterion barrel I am getting is parkerized. What is the best way to treat it (I am not setup to do a proper blueing job)? Should I pay someone to treat it?

If you want it to match, cheap blast and blue will make the receiver matte black.
Or contact TacOrd, he may have a matte black park solution, he's the man when it comes to building and refining garands.

Nick at Vulcan gun did black oxide over pak for me on a shotgun receiver. Came out dark as night.

Manganese Parkerizing will give a more black color. Especially with the Danish receivers, they darken more than the USGI ones. side note if you try and tackle parkerizing make sure that the solution is "primed" by letting steel wool boil in the solution for 20 min.
