Just curious if anyone would like to take on a Brugger and thomet type of rail and attempt a home build? I got an email from wolverine supplies saying it would cost ~$500 for one of these rail kits.. god..
Anyway, I wonder if this is possible?
post your pics too!

Just an aside how do you take off the bottom grip for the VZ58. ?

Hell yes!!!!
If it can be made, I'll make it.
I just have to get a club membership in order to get my VZ
I really want a rail for it, but I'm not setup for anodizing.

I can get 6061 aluminum but am not set up for anodizing either. I hear its pretty easy to do but I am running out of room as it is. Anyway if a home builder wants to try CZ's project let me know and I'll get the aluminum, just need the size of bar stock you want. Can get steel too if wanted. This is a donation and not to be considered as a sale.

BTW CZ...My cat saw your avatar and now I can't pry him off the ceilng

Ya that is my cat, he is a meowist rebel. LOL
What do you anodize your aluminum with? curious I have done some metal working in my time and electroplating but don't know much about anodizing.

Do you know how to remove the bottom grip on the VZ58? is it pinned? :?:

BTW:
:!: You do not need a club membership to own a VZ58-s / CZh2003!! You can have collector status if no range. anyway.. I own one and have a folding stock and a proper muzzle brake on the way from marstar. :) I am pretty impressed with all the rifles aspects except for 2 things.
1) the small pistol grip. Install a AK or VEPR handle? ergonomically very poor!!
2) rail mounts for a decent scope. ( we'll see about this) :!: :?:

Don't know much about anodizing myself but here's a good link for getting started

http://www.wcc.net/~jkmccoy/shop/anodiz.htm

from the little I've read anodizing aluminum uses basically the same techique to different degrees of sophistication. It is certainly something that can be done in a home workshop for small parts.

Since I don't own one of those types of rifles I can't answer any of your other questions. There are some websites that do sell specialty parts. Unfortunately most are in the states. Midway USA, Model-1-Sales, Tapco, Veriforce, Brownells, e-gun and the list goes on.

Cheers

ah I was thinking that was how it was held in there but I wanted to be 100% before punching anything. :) Thanx!

WOW you have to see my new additions to my VZ58 !@!! NICe stuff !! pics coming soon!!! :)     :!: :!:

Any comments?

I am at my phase 4/5 for my VZ58 project.. I just need the rail system now. I did some trading for a very well built ATN ultra holo-sight today and it is impressive to say the least!

What have you done to your VZ?
Like I don't intented on highjacking this thread, but I'm currious to know what CZ fan has done in the previous 4 phases to his VZ58.
Hey CZ fan, create a new topic with pics describing/showing what you have done to it so far.

well anyway I added the folding stock and the muzzel brake to the gun.
I have also adj the front sight and gave it a daub of red paint which makes it easier to see the front sight better. I am in the process of adding a new grip to the VZ.

My big project is of course building or getting a picantilly rail system for the front of the rifle.

Future projects on the VZ might include making another operational selection on the rifle for a second semiauto for fun? This is legal to do as I have already checked.
another mod might be coverting it to .223 ? which I am not sure how realistic this is $$$ wise!
:?:

Why convert to .223???
The 7.62x39mm is a much better CQB round.
But the .223 has better long distance ballistics.

the CZ/VZ2000 model was supposedly exactly that.. a .223 chambered VZ58. anyway due to cash problems in Czech army the idea didn't catch on. I still have an option only of czech M43 and it is ballistically the ####s! Wereas the Norinco series is an excellent cartriage! Norinco is very scarce! At least in .223 you can find the ammo at walmart or any gunstore.

handrail is in the works.. Don't have time right now to make one.
The second selection option is a MAJOR project and requires a new bolt and bolt carrier.. or a weld job. this is going to cost some $$$! Also milling out some of the metal that was welded in the gun is in order to make room for the second trigger sear group is also needed. I am quite happy with the set up right now however. so I won't be making a secondary S/A mod anytime soon.
