I agree, I wouldn't sell mine for that price. Has it been sporterised? Many were when they first came into Lever Arms about 25 years ago. They were going for $150 back then and were in VG to EXC condition.
Beautifully finished with first class polishing and a translucent blue job that looked like you could dive into it. They made great sporters, with very little work and were quite accurate with commercial ammunition. One other thing about them, the stocks were acually a liminate of some Mexican hardwood and very well finished. I would rate the Mexican small ring mausers on par with any European mausers in similar condition.
They are also interesting in the way they blended some US Springfield looks into their design, such as the striker extension for grasping on the bolt, but mostly pure mauser. If it's sporterised, in VG or better condition and you need a hunting rifle, it will do nicely, if it's in original condition, bonus. bearhunter
