Questions to member: I want to buy some 7.62x39 ammo for my sks. I would non-corrosive ammo.
Does it have a difference between the MFS and the NORINCO surplus ammo (at canada ammo)? Other than the price. I know the MFS cost more, but is it better?
Is norinco surplus very cheap in comparison of MFS Russian ammo?
I just want ammo who goes bang every shot and i doesn't want to clean my sks every times i use it!

thanks for helping me in my choice.

There is Norinco non corrosive and there is chinese surplus which is corrosive. One is considerably cheaper than the other. That being said, the Norinco non corrosive 7.62x39 is very good stuff.

For the two minutes of extra cleaning, I recommend using the regular surplus ammo. Non-corrosive is two, three, and four times the cost. I picked up dozens of cases of czech ammo at less than 120/case 2 or 3 years back. Its not that i can't afford higher priced ammo, but I do significant more shooting for the same cost. I shoot for less than 11 cents/round because Im not too lazy to take two minutes to clean it. just saying....

I just picked up some MFS in .223 rem for shooting out of my AR-15 and Rem 700. One thing that concerns me about the cheaper manufactures is that it seems the bullet itself is not copper jacketed. It seems to be a lead core with steel jacket and coating of copper on the outside. That's what makes it cheaper.

My concern is that if the copper coating is not thick enough you are a basically getting steel bullet on steel barrel causing premature wear.

I've used a case of norinco 308 and liked the performance as a plinker. I've used the mfs as well and the only down side I had was that the primers had a red coating of some sort that covered the chamber after shooting. Just a little extra cleaning. Still shot fine. Whatever the cheapest for plinking.
