MFT 5/30 AR mag disassembly Q

Are you talking about the rivet? That is there to stop you from loading more than 5 rds of ammo into the mag and turning it into a weapon of mass destruction. An unfortunate side effect of our asinine gun laws is that this rivet also prevents you from properly disassembling the mag to clean it properly.
 
little black pin on the bottom of the mag there is no rivet, probably one of those big spacers, but I cannot get it apart, and my 10 round pistol mags come apart and don' have the pin
 
If it's not pinned at the back or side, it could be internally blocked. If it's internally blocked the RCMP have said the mag needs to be glued together so the block can't be accessed.

One minor benefit of the pin, as it's in the body it can't be 'disassembled' so the floor plate can be taken off to clean the mag.
