mg 42

I asked my late German father-in-law (ex-Panzer Grenadier) what where his favourite weapons of the war. Answer:

"MG 34 and Kubelwagon". I asked why? Answer: "They worked when you needed them."

The Kubelwagon got him out of Stalingrad before the complete encirclement of the Sixth Armee.

I was in a gun shop in northern Ontario last week, and they had one of those semi auto MG 34s up on the counter. ($3,400 if memory serves) I don't know anything about them, but it looked like a war-era gun. Couldn't resist the opportunity to handle it a little~BOY are they heavy guns! Wondered (for a moment) what my wife might say if I came home with it. I mean hey...some people buy art costing that much....right? :)

It's likely still in that shop if anyone needs the details. lol
