I asked my late German father-in-law (ex-Panzer Grenadier) what where his favourite weapons of the war. Answer:

"MG 34 and Kubelwagon". I asked why? Answer: "They worked when you needed them."

The Kubelwagon got him out of Stalingrad before the complete encirclement of the Sixth Armee.

I was in a gun shop in northern Ontario last week, and they had one of those semi auto MG 34s up on the counter. ($3,400 if memory serves) I don't know anything about them, but it looked like a war-era gun. Couldn't resist the opportunity to handle it a little~BOY are they heavy guns! Wondered (for a moment) what my wife might say if I came home with it. I mean hey...some people buy art costing that much....right?

It's likely still in that shop if anyone needs the details. lol

This particular MG42 is one of the two or three in Canada with an FRT as a semi automatic one.

A real rare piece.
