I'm contemplating buying a .35 Remington with Micro-groove rifling. What are the advanates/disadvantages to this type of rifling when compared to standard rifling.

Best regards,

Theoreticaly the advantages are--less bullet distortion=better accuracy and easier cleaning (thats all I can recall right now) . Disadvantages shallower rifling=more prone to wear/damage, harder to get cast bullets to shoot well.

That being said, I have had several marlins in.357, .44 mag, .30-30 and .45-70, all with micro-groove and all shot with more than acceptable accuracy, most were very accurate (with receiver sights or scope) and all shot well with cast bullets.

FWIW, 44Bore

Most of the controversy with micro groove barrels is just nonsense!
Micro groove is shallow and will lead up quickly if you shoot cast bullets too fast or use the wrong loads.
Just do a little research you will be quite happy with a microgroove barrel.

I don't think there is any disadvantage to micro groove barrels . cast bullets might be tricky but lots of guys seem to make it work . I hope to make it work myself . I think that the micro groove barrel cleans up faster . I can't prove it but it seems that way to me.
