Micro Roni/KPOS/etc in PCC competition

I'm looking to get a 9mm PCC this year, but it occurred to me that I can get a Micro Roni or KPOS for my handgun for cheaper than a dedicated 9mm PCC. I was wondering about the use of these platforms in competitions though. I have not really waded into the competition world much, but it is something I am very much interested in, so I don't want to spend money on something that is no use for that.

I just looked at the IPSC rules, and I didn't find anything that excluded these types of platforms. In fact, the only thing I saw was something along the lines of "must have a buttstock". Am I correct in thinking I could use a Micro Roni for IPSC PCC? What about other competitions that use 9mm PCCs?

Thanks!

The ergos are going to be not ideal, accuracy won't be any better than a pistol (Which matters sometimes if you have to make longer shots), the fit is never perfect, so you're going to worry about play and the associated shift in optic zero that brings. Aaaand you're not really saving THAT much over a dedicated short barrel PCC.

Long story short, everybody that shoots IPSC has pistols, and AFAIK very few people are running their pistols in the chassis kits. There's a reason for that.

Valid points. If nobody is using chassis systems, what guns ARE common for IPSC PCC in Canada?

One of the top IPSC PCC shooters in Ontario uses a Gen 3 Glock 17 in a micro Roni…Most PCC matches are just handgun matches with carbines so the “dreaded” long shot is rare. I don’t see a lot of them but there are several shooters who use chassis kits in IPSC matches here.

Once you try it out decide you like the platform, you will probably want a proper PCC but there’s nothing wrong with a Roni in the meantime.

At our last match, I would say 40% of the shooters were using FX9’s, another 25% had Ruger PC9’s…

I can't speak for the Micro-Roni, but on a whim I picked up the "Recover Tactical" pistol stock (similar to this from Marstar) and I would dread having to use it for extended periods of time. The cheek weld is very uncomfortable, almost painful

A pistol can with good ammo and skill put all round on a 8x11 sheet of paper at 100. A stock greatly increases the stability. But I wouldn't say its a replacement for a PCC.

Shot a match in Williams lake last weekend, saw two shooters using the Roni chassis, both seemed to do just fine. If it's just an IPSC match not a dedicated PCC match then there really are no long shots.

I can't BELIEVE some people are actively seeking excuses NOT to buy another gun...

WEAK SAUCE..!

When PCC was first introduced I asked Sean Hansen about it and he said that chassis were legal.

Having shot an FX9 and a Glock in a KPOS side by side honestly I’d take the KPOS. The FX9 was jumpy AF compared to it, KPOS was much more solid feeling and easier to manage recoil with. With things the way they are these days though I wouldn’t really want to put extra wear and tear on my pistols though if I had another option. I’m still hoping that those S&W Responses will make it in.

S&W response looks real nice, but I can't imagine we see those before the next election thanks to C21's prohib definition. =(

It said designed and manufactured after it comes into force. It was released in the US before that so I still have hope. Apparently it’s just waiting on an FRT number. But the horse police could just as easily say it’s an AR variant based on looks and stop it from coming in.

Suther I can't wait to see you at a match. We can argue politics it'll be just like we're in cgn.

Oh ya the question.

Most common PCCs I've seen are fx9, pc9, and bt offerings like ghm and spc... And then the raven too.
