I have a 1300 Black Shadow and I would like to install a white bid bead sight and a fiber sight. Problem is I see many different fiber sights but no standard white mid bead sights.....is this something that required gunsmithing?

Thanks,

John

mid bead sight

Hi,
as far as I know, I think you will have to purchase your white mid bead sight separately. Install your fiber front sight first,(no gunsmithing) and if you really need mid bead sight, purchase it and make it install by a gunsmith. In fact, if you are able to work with metal tool (i.e. press drill, caliper and tap and drill) you can do it by yourself. But if not, give the job to a good metalsmith or gunsmith especially if your shotgun does not have ventilated rib. It won't cost you a lot.

Just curious (and not to deter you from what you've in mind)....but if your plan is to simply shoot clay and/or hunt with the firearm then just a fibre sight on it's own should be the best strategy, IMHO. Will also better assist in honing reflexes given the fact that pointing is more the norm in shotgunning.

Waterfowler has it right, that is why they usually only use a smaller brass middle bead, you don't want it to dominate your sight picture, you just want it to assist you with a consistent gun mount, and initial sight picture before the shot!

Having a centre bead helps ensure proper gun mount.

Not refuting the statement......although personally can't fully support that view either as far as wingshooting in concerned. How effective is a mid bead if the shotgun is not a good fit to begin with?
