Is there any reason you don't see many midlenght gas system AR barrels less than 16"??

Would there be any benifit to a 14.5"(or shorter) barrel with a midlenght gas port?? Better recoil impulse??

From what I have seen the 12.5" midlength are not reliable -- the dwell on the short barrel is next to none, and you need a pretty large gas port, and the violent cycling that that causes...

I wondered about that when looking at the difference in dwell time between 10.5" and 11.5" with a carbine gas system. Moving the port closer to the muzzle of the 12.5" would seem to allow for the same (or perhaps slightly less) dwell time than the 10.5"/carbine system.

I have moved from 16" ML to a 14.5" ML and it is pretty soft shooting - until I can afford an SR-15 E3 IWS this will serve the purpose...

blake

i just finished a 10.5 ar project and its a blast to shoot, used a s&w ar and just changed out the barrel and cycles awsome and have had no problems in the first few 100 rounds.

Zero unless its government sale, we do not currently sell SBR's, all of our Short Barrels are machine guns.

Plus their are 5.56mm barrels, currently a no-no from DDTC
