Mid range Lpvo

Look at the nx8 before you buy. Read about a lot of buyers remorse with ####ty eye box. The 1*8 accupower or a used gen 2 razor get my vote. V
Never looked through the athlon Cronus but if it is anything like the 4.5*29 it would be a winner too.

Credo is just the line that seems to be replacing AccuPower in Trijicon's lineup. Ideally I'd love to get the NX8 with the same reticle as the ATACR. The only downside to both the NF 1-8 reticles is the biggish 1moa centre dot. I get why they did that but it's not ideal for my purposes. The weight of the NX8 is pretty attractive as is the fact that it's away cheaper than the ATACR. That new Vortex is on the radar as well. 1-10x sounds pretty awesome.

The only potential issue is the size of the reticle at the lower & upper extremities of the zoom range, is it too small at 1x or too large at 10x? If Vortex can get that right and it has all the good features the 1-6x does it'll be a winner.

Sounds like we are on the same page. Shame there isn't anywhere in my locality that I can view such optics.

Interesting, so does the ATACR have this issue too?

There are some videos posted online that show the zoom spectrum. Looks to be ok at 1x and 10x. But cant be really sure.
Maybe it will be available for view at TACOM 2020

I'm in the market for a new lpvo as well. Looking for something lighter weight to replace my Minox ZP8. I like my Khales K16 and now they have a K18, but their reticle options are pretty bad.

Interesting, so does the ATACR have this issue too?

I have the NX8 and it has a 30mm main tube the ATACR has a 34mm tube so its a little better, but it is also heavier NX8-17oz ATACR-21oz and cost almost double at $3700 plus tax vs $2300 plus for the NX8. I have a Trijicon RMR mounted on top of my NX8 angled at a 45 for close range, so the small eye box hasn't been a big issue for me so far.

I am currently in the market for another LPVO, I am on the fence between a Khales K16i or K18i, or waiting for the Vortex 1-10 but that is going to be in the $3000 plus price point so it will have to be great for me to choose it over the other $3000 options. I want to wait to see how it looks in 1x compared to 10x before I make my decision. They seem to be the first to do 1-10 so I am interested to see how well they pull it off

The K16 is:
Top tier glass
Top tier illumination
Top tier weight (very light)
Mid tier reticle (depends on your purpose i guess)
Low tier turrets

Durability wise, my Khales was on a 12lb rifle that was standing on its own stock. Rifle tipped over and landed on the elevation turret. This was on cement floor. No problems, but i cant claim i run it hard.

Which reticle did you get? The dealer I am looking at has 3GR and G4B in stock but there is also 2 more reticle choices for the K16i

I almost bought the K16i but opted for the extra magnification of the NX8 as that went on a .308, I was also unsure of the Khales 2nd focal plane vs 1st FP

Unless the new Vortex 1-10 blows my mind I will likely end up with a K16i, I like the huge eye box and great glass the Khales has. The Vortex Razor HD 1-6 also has a huge eyebox I like but from what I've seen the glass isn't nearly as good. And I am being really picky and this isn't a deal breaker but I am not a fan of the color, really wish they made them in black

I got the SL1. The SM1 looked too clustered to me. The lines are close together and busy(probably better on a ffp)
SL1 is MOA reticle but turrets are mil. Lots of ppl advise against doing that, but the turrets are so bad that I would not use them anyways. And mostly i dont use turrets on LPVOs. So the MOA/MIL mismatch isnt a big issue here.

SL1 has the center dot, another dot 5 MOA lower, A triangle 10 MOA lower, and another triangle 15 MOA lower.
Thats good enough to get me on target with first shots as my rifle drops 4 MOA at 300, 9.5 MOA at 400, and 15 MOA at 500.

The reticle for the Razor 1-10 actually looks quite good. It has a 0.2mrad centre dot but then thicker "1/4 circles" around the dot that I imagine make the whole thing almost look like one dot at 1x. I'm curious to see what else comes out from the top tier manufacturers as I hate to pay Razor money for a Vortex instead of NF, Kahles, Leupold, etc
