Looking for some help here my lady is just finishing up her restricted.
I have a stainless p226 in 40 she dones not like the recoil or the size of the pistol . I also have a prohib 32ppk of which she likes a lot .

So here we are in canada with the problem comfortable for a small lady but legal / restricted only .

Anyone have some thoughts or a similar problem that you have overcome .

Remember light recoil , light weight , accurate .

Makarov

Check out Interammo, banner is at the top of the page. Not a very expensive pistol by any means so if she doesn't like it your not taking a big hit to sell it.

Take her to the range and let her try a bunch of guns and pick for herself.

This, but maybe a Glock 19 Gen4 with a legal barrel? Or if she has really small palms, maybe a 1911 in 9mm? The thin grip might be a bonus.

I also know a few ladies who like the size and feel of the M&P, and one who really likes the GP6.

ETA: One note about your OP: light weight and light recoil are by the laws of physics mutually exclusive, if the chambered round is the constant.

If the round isn't important, find which .22 she likes and get her that. Plus, ammo is ultra cheap compared to any centre fire. I recommend the Ruger 22/45.

What do you guys think about a CZ Shadow 9mm?

My daughter is interested in pistol shooting and just got her Rpal. She really likes shooting my Ruger Mk III but I don't want her to shoot my 357 Mag in the chance that it will put her off with too heavy of a recoil.

What are the opinions of the 9mm Shadow especially as it can use the Kadet 22lr conversion kit for really cheap training?

I am not sure if available in Canada, but the CZ82 in 9X18 Mak is REALLY popular with ladies down here. Plenty of safety features and fit smaller hands real well.
Here in Iowa we are a state that allows CCW or Open carry. The women really like these and they do shoot well.Hope you can get these up there. We also have a Ruger LCP in 380, but double action only. Wife hates it.

I second the Makarov....Here is mine in .380 acp...

I couldn't believe how tiny it is. My wife loves it, it fits really nice in her hand. Comes with 2 mags. I bought mine BRAND NEW off of a non supporting dealer for 325.

Military/Police Czech CZ82. These are the ones wife and I bought and carry daily. 9x18 Mak caliber. Each came with two mags, black holster, lanyard, and cleaning rods.
These were $219 US each. I have 6 other pistols that I do not use for carry any longer.

I believe these would be a prohib here in Canada. To bad too cuz I would love one!!!!!!

most of the women i've taken to the range either fancy my 1911 trojan in 9mm, or my taurus 689 but using 38 special opposed to 357's

so those are my suggestions

You could reload and make some powder-puff .40 for her to shoot. That'd be the cheapest AAANNNDD get you setup for reloading.

+1 on the .38SPL (the next test is can they #### the hammer? If yes then this is a good route for the ladies)
22/45 is always a winner. :)

Even the 9mm might be too much depending on the female shooter.
