Hey all,

I just wanted to get some input on an upcoming purchase i'm looking to make on a 1911.
The two pistols I'm looking at are the:

SAM Thunderbolt 1911 .45

Girsan Yavuz MC1911 Tactical .45
https://www.wanstallsonline.com/product.php?productid=3106&cat=0&page=1

I'm looking at a railed pistol for the TLR-1, so those are the two options I've found so far - the price point is around $700 taxes in.

I'm liking the SAM more, as the sights are adjustable and the Girsan are proprietary (from what I've read). I'm probably not going to put night sights on them, perhaps a front fiber sight though.
The front grip on the SAM could be a bonus, I don't generally use the front of the slide to rack but could be good for assisting press checks to ensure I have a round in the chamber.

Anything else that could sway the decision between the two? (other than the two vendors in question)

Cheers

The SAM is a known quantity here. The girsan is new to our market.

My SAM omega is a nice tight pistol. Trigger is too heavy, but I'll have that seen to.

I've a friend with a Thunderbolt and she loves it.

If I didn't hate the look of a rail on a 1911 I'd consider one myself.

being that no one has any experience with the Girsan 1911, it will be hard to actually compare. Their Beretta clones are excellent and highly regarded, but they were made on real Beretta machinery by HK techs.

We all know the SAMs are great for the price, so if you have to buy now, get one.

Personally I'd wait and see. If you have a couple hundred bucks more, I'd say get a Ruger SR1911. They are excellent

These guys are bringing in what look like SAM pistols, and the estimated pricing is pretty damn good.
